Curiosity and critical thinking were on full display as Northbrook Junior High students showcased their research projects at this year’s Science Fair. Nearly 40 students presented original investigations, demonstrating not only creativity but also a strong understanding of scientific inquiry.

The results were equally impressive. Of the 39 students who participated, 28 earned the opportunity to advance to the Illinois Junior Academy of Science regional competition, scheduled for March 7 at Wheeling High School. Their projects reflected months of careful planning, experimentation, and analysis.

The Science Fair serves as the capstone experience for the semester-long Independent Science Research course. Throughout the class, students build skills in applying the scientific method, locating and evaluating credible sources, designing controlled experiments, and communicating results through formal research papers supported by data, graphs, and visual displays.

The event was made possible by a dedicated group of volunteer judges who generously shared their time and expertise. Judges included district staff, family and community members, former educators, alumni, and college professors, all of whom provided valuable feedback to students.

The district extends its sincere appreciation to everyone who helped make the Science Fair a meaningful and authentic learning experience.
