At the August 25 Board of Education meeting, Dr. Pearson discussed the district's strategic plan, which was developed during the 2023-24 school year with input from staff, families, students, and the community. The plan consists of four strategic goals (listed below) for the district, as well as strategic portraits of a learner, a staff member, a family member, and the district.

The plan is intended to guide ongoing work and support continuous improvement across the district. As the year progresses, district leaders will share updates with the Board and the community on the work underway and the progress toward each strategic goal. 

Goal 1: Learning Culture

Cultivate a supportive and innovative learning environment to foster growth, development, and achievement for all learners. 

This year’s key action steps include:

• Implementing a universal curriculum in Literacy and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)
• Strengthening how staff teams work together and use data systems to respond to student needs.

Goal 2: Staff Support & Satisfaction

Nurture an inclusive culture where staff are equitably valued, connected, and supported in meaningful, continuous growth. 

This year’s key action steps include:

• Expanding the work of the district’s staff Wellness Committee
• Completing a district staffing audit

Goal 3: Family & Community Engagement

Create a supportive ecosystem for families and the larger community that contributes to learner success. 

This year’s key action steps include:

• Increasing participation and opportunities for learning through Parent Universities, Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee (BPAC), PTO partnerships, and Caregiver Connection (supports for caregivers of children with special needs).
• Strengthening community connections and learning opportunities through partnerships with local businesses, community experts, and retirement communities. 

Goal 4: Systems & Resources

Optimize resources to accomplish equitable, data-informed priorities within a balanced budget. 

This year’s key action steps include: 

• Focusing on the Build 28 construction in our schools
• Continuing to provide a balanced budget
