At the March 10, 2026, Board of Education meeting, the Board approved Dr. Eric Apgar as the district's new Director of Student Services. He will begin in his new role on July 1, replacing Dr. Kelly Sculles, who will be the new Executive Director of the Mid-Valley Special Education Cooperative.

Dr. Apgar comes to District 28 from Round Lake Area Schools 116, where he currently works as the Assistant Superintendent/Executive Director of Student Services. He previously worked as the Director of Guidance at Carl Sandburg High School and as the Director of Student Personnel Services at Maine Township High School West. He began his career as a School Psychologist with Community High School District 155.

Dr. Apgar earned his doctorate in Educational Leadership from Concordia University. He also holds two master's degrees, one in Educational Leadership from Northern Illinois University and one in Counseling Psychology from Loyola University.
