Busy Summer Ahead as Build 28 Projects Move Forward

In his Superintendent's Report at the Jan. 27 District 28 Board of Education meeting, Dr. Pearson shared an update on the district's $94.9 million Build 28 construction initiative, made possible by the community's support last spring.

Construction on the new Meadowbrook gymnasium, which began at the start of the school year, is on track for completion this spring. Click here to check out a time-lapse video of construction inside! In addition, the district has gone out to bid for the new Meadowbrook school in February, with construction anticipated to begin once the new gymnasium is completed. When a school district bids out a project, it formally invites qualified contractors to submit proposals. These bids typically include costs, timelines, and project plans. The district will review the bids and select the most competitive and responsible contractor, which will be shared at next month's Board meeting.

The district is also in the final phases of design for Greenbriar and Westmoor, which will go to bid this spring. Major construction at each building is anticipated to begin this summer. Northbrook Junior High is expected to go to bid in the fall. By staggering the bid process, the district anticipates maximizing the amount of work that can be completed at all schools.
