Last year after a two-year absence due to COVID-19, the fund-raiser run had over 400 participants and raised $37,500 for college scholarships.

This event is the main fundraiser for the Homer O. Harvey Scholarships. Scholarship winners for 2023 will be announced at the Glenbrook North Awards Ceremony on May 19. Since 1989, $342,500 has been awarded to 388 Northbrook Junior High graduates including the 2022 recipients. Homer O. Harvey was a longtime superintendent of District 28 and dedicated his career to providing high standards of excellence in learning. Over 20 local sponsors helped make this event a success.

“I have had the honor of serving as Council President the last four years and my favorite responsibility was being part of the Homer O. Harvey Scholarship selection committee,” said Cari Raymond Stoneburner PTO Council president. “This year our amazing committee was thrilled to bring this event back and to see the community's overwhelmingly positive response.  Thank you to our sponsors, anonymous donors and over 400 participants!”

In 2022, 10 seniors were awarded a $1,000 scholarship toward second-semester college tuition. Scholarships are awarded to outstanding high school students who are graduates of Northbrook Junior High. This year’s recipients are Penelope Badgley, Jenna Ciesla, Lillian Denk, Sofia Fayman Tacy Guest, Morissa Lambert, Allison Lau, Bailey Onixt, Jonah Prober and Kate Rassin.
