Food Allergy Management
Because of the serious nature of these allergies, a comprehensive set of practices is in place in our schools. The District 28 Resource Guide for Supporting Children with Life-Threatening Allergies offers families a complete, handy reference. Individual homeroom families will receive specific information if a food-allergic student is a member of their class.
All district families are asked to teach their children not to share any foods at school, to respectfully accept differences and limitations among their classmates, and to encourage good hand-washing practices as a method of limiting the spread of allergens.
