Committee Meetings

Board Committees

The Board of Education has committee meetings, which are work sessions usually regarding only a single topic. By Illinois law, the Board may not take official action at committee meetings. However, the public is always welcome to attend. If there is a meeting, the agenda will be posted as required by law. The three primary Board Committees include: 

  • Buildings & Grounds Committee: The purpose of the Buildings & Grounds Committee is to review facility work across the district, provide guidance on strategic facility initiatives, and ensure community involvement in the district’s facilities processes. Board representatives include: DeShawn Arms, Beth Bazer, and Mara Silver-Schack. 
     
  • Finance Committee: The purpose of the Finance Committee is to review the district budget, financial projections and other important financial documents and reports. Board representatives include: Eve Pfanzelter and Adam Weinstock
     
  • Policy Committee: The purpose of the Policy Committee is to review existing policies, recommend changes where necessary, and propose new policies for consideration by the Board. Board representatives include Christine Beeftink and Diana Horwitz. 

Board members DeShawn Arms and Diana Horwitz also serve on the district's Code of Conduct Committee. Board members Mara Silver-Schack and Adam Weinstock also serve on the district's Negotiations Committee.
