Facilitating Team Leaders

Gauri Brown

Gauri Brown has lived in Northbrook since 2019 with her husband, Matt, and their three children, one in 7th grade, 4th grade, and 1st grade.  As a member of Northbrook District 28, Gauri has enjoyed volunteering as a chair for the Greenbriar Cultural Fair and the Greenbriar Science Night for several years.  She has also participated in the Greenbriar Yearbook committee.  Gauri's professional background is in healthcare administration and operations, project management, and change management.  She has loved being a member of the Northbrook community and is excited to see it continue to thrive. 

Sarah  Higgins

Sarah Higgins is the director of a community based non-profit in Northbrook called Young Life that serves students at NBJH and GBN, as well as a parent to two district 28 students- a second grader at Greenbriar, and a preschooler at Westmoor in the Young Explorers program. 

Steve Szumowski

Steve Szumowski and his family moved to District 28 in 1988. Their two children graduated through Meadowbrook, NBJH and District 225 schools. Steve and his wife, Emily, were adult leaders in Boy and Girl Scouts and served as coaches for students in District 28 Science Olympiad. Steve was elected President of the Northbrook Caucus where he assisted citizen groups in choosing Library, School Board and Village Board candidates for public elections. He worked in the northeast and central states for American, European and Japanese manufacturers in the publishing and printing equipment industry. Believing that progress depends on education, Steve has supported education through schools, libraries and the publishing industry.

Tamara Reese

Tamara Reese is the President of D28 Music Parents Club, the music booster for Band, Orchestra and Choir. She and her husband have four kids: one at GBN, one at NBJH, and two at Greenbriar. She has a master’s in public health and loves collecting qualitative data!

Kristin Ware

Kristin grew up in Northbrook and attended Westmoor and NBJH. She and her husband returned to Northbrook 10 years ago specifically for the schools and the strong community. She is President of PTO Council and works as an advertising and marketing consultant. Her children attend NBJH, Greenbriar and Young Explorers.
