On April 1, 2025 the Northbook School District 28 community voted to support a $94.9 million bond referendum. The projects included in the referendum were developed with community input as part of the district's Building Tomorrow Together community engagement program and they are based on needs identified in the district's comprehensive master facilities plan. Thanks to the community's support, the district's Build 28 initiative will have the opportunity to build on a tradition of excellence by: 

• Keeping our schools safe and up to date
• Providing teachers and students with the support they need to achieve at high levels
• Helping to keep our neighborhoods strong
• Operating in a cost-effective manner
• Protecting the community's investment in our schools

The district is working with DLA Architects to complete the projects. In addition to the $94.9 million approved by the community, the district will use $20 million from its operating funds to fund the projects.

Projected Construction Timeline

• March 2026: Meadowbrook gymnasium completed & construction of the new Meadowbrook School begins
  April - June 2026: Westmoor & Greenbriar construction begins
  Nov. 2026 - March 2027: NBJH construction begins
  Feb. - April 2027: Westmoor & Greenbriar Phase 1 construction completed
  August 2027: New Meadowbrook School completed
  February 2028: Greenbriar Phase 2 completed
  August 2028: NBJH construction completed
