Travel Advisory
Cook County Department of Public Health is monitoring the positivity rates of each state. States that are 'orange' on this map require a 10-day travel quarantine. 'Yellow' states do not require quarantine. This map is updated bi-weekly on Wednesday and goes into effect the following Friday. Individuals who previously tested positive for COVID are exempt from the travel quarantine for 90 days as long as they are asymptomatic and have already completed their 10-day quarantine after the positive test result. Individuals who have been vaccinated are also exempt. If a person is a close contact of someone who is COVID positive, the 14-day quarantine remains in effect.
If a student travels to a state for less than 24 hours, no quarantine is required. This has been in place since the start of the school year and has not posed any issues. However, non-essential travel is discouraged.
The CDC/IDPH continues to recommend that non-essential travel should be avoided. However, if traveling, remember to wear your mask in public, stay 6-feet socially distanced, and wash hands frequently.
