  • Program Details 

    Registration for Outdoor Education will begin online Monday, August 30 and will close on Friday, September 17.  To ensure all 6th-grade students are accounted for, parents must complete the form whether or not their child plans to participate. 

    Registration & Cost

    The cost for the trip is $75. You may pay online or by cash or check. If paying online, a $1.50 service charge will be applied.

    4 Steps to Attending Camp Timber-Lee:

    1. Register: Complete the online form by clicking on the 6th Grade Outdoor Education button on D28 online payment page.
    2. Download, complete and print the Health Form
    3. Submit Payment: Parents can pay online, subject to a $1.50 service charge while completing the online registration. OR send cash or check, payable to Northbrook District 28, along with the health form to your child's X-Block teacher.
    4. Turn in forms: Your student needs to turn in the Health Form and (if applicable) cash or check payment to their X-block teacher by Monday, Sept. 20

    The registration is not complete until the x-block teacher receives the signed Health & Medication Form and payment.

    Health & Medication Information 

    Medication drop-off

    Bring all medications to the NBJH health office no later than 4 p.m. on Monday, September 27.  All medication needs to be in the original labeled container.  We are unable to accept medications on the day of departure Wednesday, September 25.

    Medication pick-up

    All medication sent to camp MUST be picked up from the health office on Friday, October 1.

    Camp Information

    On camp day, all students should arrive at Northbrook Junior High no later than 8 a.m. Please drop off your student at the 6th Grade entrance, the handicap-accessible ramp at the front of the school. Bus riders will still arrive in the back parking lot and check in at the gym entrance. Please make sure the CrisisGo health check is completed prior to arrival. Students will return to Northbrook Junior High on their camp day at approximately 6:30 p.m..  Please pick up your student in the Meadowhill Pool parking lot.

    For the NBJH onsite day, students should arrive & depart as they do on a regular school day. 

    Outdoor Education Suggested Supply List

    Students are encouraged to bring a small (lightweight) pull string backpack or waist bag.

    • Packed Lunch
    • 1 pair of shoes that can get dirty
    • 1 long sleeve t-shirt or sweatshirt 
    • 1 raincoat or poncho  (optional: if weather indicates the potenital of rain)
    • 1 hat and gloves (optional: if weather indicates cold tempertures)
    • 1 refillable water bottle

    Lunch: Please prepare a packed lunch for your child and a small snack for the bus ride to and from camp.  Please make sure that food items are peanut and tree nut free. Lunches will be stored under the outside cafeteria pavilion and will not be carried throughout the day.  

    Clothing (label everything):  Please dress for the weather. Consider checking the weather the day prior, as this time of year the weather can change quickly. Consider sending your child with a long-sleeve shirt or sweatshirt to accommodate the daily weather fluctuations. Your child will be spending the day outside, with the exception of riding the bus.  Please be aware that whatever you pack your child with they need to be able to carry it throughout the day.

    NBJH Outdoor Ed Parent-Student Agreement

    It is understood that your child will be a cooperative and positive participant in the Outdoor Education Program at Camp Timber-lee, East Troy, Wisconsin.  We hold the same behavioral expectations at outdoor education as we do at school.

    Note that during one of the camp activities, students will have the opportunity to scale a wooden tower with safety equipment and supervision provided by the Camp Timber-lee staff. Additionally, students will be offered the chance to use the zip line at the facility with the appropriate safety equipment. Your child will have the choice to decide whether or not he/she wishes to participate in these activities.

    If you have any questions or concerns, please talk with your child’s x-block teacher as soon as possible, and please attend our informational meeting on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. You will receive an email with details on the informational meeting.
