Megan Roberts, Greenbriar Kindergarten Teacher
Megan Roberts is the new Kindergarten teacher at Greenbriar. She has a bachelor’s degree in history from Lawrence University and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction of Domican University. She has taught preschool for six years and kindergarten for five years, most recently as a remote kindergarten teacher in District 30.
Elizabeth Immer, Meadowbrook Science Lab
Elizabeth Immer will be the new science lab teacher at Meadowbrook School. She most recently worked as a science specialist at Rowe Elementary School in Chicago. She has a master’s degree from Dominican University, and a bachelor’s degree from DePaul University. Elizabeth has also recently served as a teacher leader for the Science Leadership Initiative for the Museum of Science and Industry.
Brigette Hurst – Meadowbrook Instructional Facilitator
Brigette Hurst has taught grades 3, 4 and 5 over the past 12 years in Barrington. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois in 2007 and completed her master’s degree in Language and Literacy in 2009. Brigette was a Golden Apple finalist in 2017 and participated in the Golden Apple Academy for professional development on dynamic and personal teaching.
Amanda Dziadus, Westmoor 5th grade teacher
Amanda Dziadus joins the 5th-grade team after working as a paraprofessional last year. She received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Illinois State University.
Mikayla Wandersee, YE Occupational Therapist
Mikayla Wandersee will be joining District 28 as an occupational therapist in August. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Carthage College and a Doctorate of Occupational Therapy from Midwestern University. Ms. Wandersee completed her fieldwork experience in pediatrics environments including an intergenerational preschool program and a pediatric outpatient therapy setting.
Northbrook Junior High
Josh Albers, NBJH Physical Education
Josh Albers earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sport science from Carthage College. He has taught physical education and health for the past seven years at Carl Sandburg Middle School in Mundelein. Josh also brings coaching experience in baseball, soccer, wrestling and track.
Laura Cohen, NBJH Gifted Coordinator
Laura Cohen is returning to NBJH as the Gifted and Talented Coordinator after spending the last two years at Deerpath Middle School as an Advanced Learning Specialist. Prior to that, Laura taught 6th grade language arts at NBJH for 11 years. She received a master’s degree in gifted education from Northeastern Illinois University, a master’s degree in teaching from National-Louis University and bachelor’s degree in journalist from Northern Illinois University.
Eric DeMattia, 8th Grade Math
Eric DeMattia earned his bachelor’s degree in Secondary Math Education from Augustana College. After completing student teaching in an 8th-grade math classroom in Moline, Eric has taught a variety of math levels at Pontiac High School for the past four years.
Sarah Gusewelle, NBJH Spanish
Sarah Gusewelle graduated in 2021 from Ohio State University summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in world language education. Sarah’s student teaching included Spanish in the elementary and high school settings. She has also received Advanced Proficiency rating in Spanish speaking and writing.
Irene Koliopoulos, NBJH Special Education
Irene Koliopoulos joins the student services team at NBJH from Sunset Ridge, where she taught last year. She received a bachelor’s degree in English, sociology, and anthropology from Lake Forest College and a master’s degree in English and secondary education from National Louis University.
Mackenzie McGrath, NBJH Physical Education
Mackenzie McGrath will move from classroom assistant at Westmoor School to applying her expertise in physical education and health education at Northbrook Junior High. She received her bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University and completed student teaching at Elk Grove High School and Greenbriar School. She also has coaching experience in girls lacrosse.
Madeline Schwartz, NBJH Social Worker
Madeline Schwartz joins the district with experience as a social worker in the Indianapolis public schools. She completed her internship work at Evanston Township High School and Urban Prep Academy in Chicago. She received her master’s degree in social work from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Tulane University.
Anna Sherbin, NBJH Speech/Language PathologistMs. Anna Sherbin has been hired for a speech/language pathologist position at Northbrook Junior High. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Linguistics from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in speech, language and learning from Northwestern University. She completed a variety of clinical experiences at Chicago Public Schools and Chicago Pediatric Therapy and Wellness Center.
Andrew Treiber, 7th Grade Math
AJ Treiber earned his bachelor’s degree from Drake University after graduating from Loyola Academy for high school. He taught 7th-grade math in Adair, Iowa and a combination of 7th and 8th-grade math at Immaculate Conception in Chicago.
