Many people are familiar with the basics of budgeting, but a school district budget operates very differently from the budget of a typical business or organization. In this episode, Dr. Pearson talks to District 28’s Chief School Business Official about what makes school funding unique, how financial decisions are made, and why every dollar represents a commitment to students, staff, and the community.

At the September 22 District 28 Board of Education meeting, the district shared an update about its phased approach to artificial intelligence (AI) in schools guided by the principle of learning first, technology second.

Meadowbrook students and staff became part of their school’s history on September 9, as they signed a 10-foot steel beam that will be used for the new school building’s structure.

The district's strategic plan is intended to guide ongoing work and support continuous improvement across the district. As the year progresses, district leaders will share updates with the Board of Education and the community on the work underway and the progress toward each strategic goal.

District 28 has been recognized for the 11th straight year by the NAMM Foundation as one of the Best Communities for Music Education. District 28 is one of just 31 school districts recognized in Illinois this year, out of 850 school districts across the state.
