Each December, District 28 elementary schools transform into festive showcases of student creativity through winter-themed musical performances and an accompanying art show.

In the third Insight 28 episode of the 25-26 school year, Host Dr. Jason Pearson, Superintendent of Schools, sits down for a discussion with Maria Eck, Westmoor Principal, and Heather Juhl, Architect from DLA Architects, to discuss how the Build 28 renovations and additions at Westmoor are going to enhance teaching and learning for students and staff.

At the December 2 Board of Education meeting, the district's Teaching & Learning Department presented recently released data from the 2025 Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR). The data shows that District 28 student proficiency in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math ranks among the highest in the state.

First graders from Meadowbrook School recently visited the NBJH garden and teamed up with 8th graders in Mr. Kostal's and Ms. Stout's classes to practice being scientists.

Greenbriar Music Teacher Jeremy Bartunek recently attended a red carpet gala at Nashville's Schermerhorn Symphony Center, where he was one of just 30 educators nationwide to be recognized as a 2025 Country Music Association (CMA) Foundation Music Teacher of Excellence.
