Northbrook Junior High School is offering a number of peer support groups for students. Below is a letter describing these opportunities. The groups start the week of Oct. 13, with a permission slip due to Mrs. Gail by Oct. 8.

NBJH Book Fair Coming Up Sept. 15 - 17 with Expanded Hours

The Northbrook Junior High’s PTO Book Fair is coming up and runs from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 15 in the Homer O. Harvey Community Room at Northbrook Junior High School, 1475 Maple Avenue. The fair runs from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 16 and from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 17, with parents encouraged to visit the fair when they participate in Tuesday’s Open House Curriculum Night at the junior high.
The Book Fair will offer a wide selection of books for junior high readers, as well as reference books, titles of current interest and much more. Scholastic is able to offer competitive pricing on titles, including hard cover editions.
Students will be viewing the Book Fair with their language arts classes during the school day, when they will have the opportunity to list “Books I Like” for future reference.  Students may shop at the Book Fair during lunch periods and, as well as after school.
Parents are welcome to send a reasonable amount of money to school with their children.  Personal checks and all major credit cards also are accepted.  All students and staff are entered in a raffle to win a $10 coupon to use at the Book Fair.
The book fair is the Northbrook Junior High School’s primary fundraiser. The PTO helps to sponsor a variety of activities, including school-wide assemblies, Sixth Grade Dance Assembly, “TGIF” Fun Nights, grade-level field trips, the district calendar and directory, the eighth grade graduation reception, the eighth grade graduation party, and LIFT (Looking Into the Future Together) Day, which helps students explore career options.

The fall 2008 sports season is about to get underway at NBJH! Please visit the NBJH athletics page, accessible under “Programs,” to read information about cross country, soccer, and volleyball. You’ll also find information about flag football intermurals and NBJH’s fitness room. Check it out!
